Upcoming solo art exhibtition
"STILL STANDING" - Opens September 9th 2025
I am thrilled to announce my upcoming solo show. This show will be a lush sample of largely unseen work completed over the past year or so, as well as new pieces that are all based on the still life genre. You will see several series that explore colour, composition, brushwork and form, as well as dive into some more contemporary visions of still life with strong symbolist narratives.
I am excited to say this will be my first time curating and running my own exhibition. I will be working in the gallery for the week and look forward to meeting those of you who can come down and have a look. Holding this show is a big deal for me, as it is the first time I have gathered my strength up to exhibit a collection of paintings since my last solo two years ago. A lot has happened in that time, and its been a rough road to be honest. The name "Still Standing" is a nod to the endurance and resilience I have needed to draw upon as I have navigated becoming an ambulatory wheelchair user, and a reminder that despite what life throws at me, I am still standing.
Thistle Hall is a wonderful community venue that allows artists to showcase their work in a beautiful gallery space for one week. I will be running the gallery for the week of my show, please find the details below.
Show Details
- The show will run for ONE WEEK ONLY - 9 Sept-14 Sept at Thistle Hall - 293 Cuba Street - Te Aro - Wellington.
- A VIP exclusive preview will be by held by special invitation only.
- An opening night celebration will be held on Tuesday 9th September by invitation, please email me if you would like to be on the invite list.
- Gallery hours will be 11am - 6pm Tues - Sat, and 11am - 3pm on Sunday. (Sensory hour from 10-11am each morning)
Purchases
A variety of payment methods will be available. Artworks may be purchased via:
- Eftpos (facilities within the gallery)
- PayPal
- Internet bank transfer (within NZ)
- Please note, no cash will be held on the premises, so no cash sales are available
- All purchased artworks will remain in the exhibition until Sunday 12pm. Purchased artworks can then be collected on Sunday between 12-3pm or as arranged.
Accessibility
- The venue is wheelchair accessible with a low ramp and easy access from the street. There is a single mobility park to the side of the building on Arthur street, and regular short term parking in the vicinity. A wheelchair accessible toilet is available.
- Inside the gallery there will be places to sit and rest while viewing the artworks.
- The gallery will be open for a Sensory Hour between 10 - 11 am each morning. This time will have fewer visitors, low lighting, fragrance free, and a quiet atmosphere for those who have sensory sensitivities.
- Artist information and details about the artworks will be available to view in written format in both regular and large font
